Managing a Group Articles
Managing a group allows you to change its details, permissions, and the users who are members of the group.

To manage a group:

  1. Show the Resources page by clicking the Resources link in the top right hand corner of the screen.
     
  2. Click on the Security tab.
     
  3. On the Groups widget, click the Manage button next to the group you want to manage.


    The Manage Group dialog box is displayed. 

     
  4. Do one or more of the following:

    To

    Change the name of the group
    1. Click the Edit button.
    2. Enter the required name in the Name box.
    3. Click the Save button.
    Delete the groupClick the Delete button.
    Add a user to the group
    1. Click on the Users section.
    2. Enter the last name and/or email address of the user to be added.
    3. Click the Search button.
      The users matching the search criteria are displayed. 
    4. Do one of the following:
      • If there are no users matching the search criteria, or if the required user is not displayed, invite a user to join your account by clicking the Invite User button.
      • If the search returns results, add the required user to the group by clicking the Add button next to the user.
    Remove a user from the group
    1. Click on the Users section.
    2. Remove the required user from the group by clicking the Remove button next to the user.
    Give users in the group permission settings for a specific resource
    1. Click on the Resources referring to this group section.
    2. Specify the following:
      • UUID - The UUID of the resource to apply the permission setting to.
      • Permission - Whether to allow or deny the users in the group the ability to perform the action specified using the Capability drop down menu.
      • Capability - The action that the users in the group are specifically allowed or denied the ability to perform.
      • Resource type - The type of resource that the UUID pertains to.
    3. Click the Add button.
    Remove an assigned specific permission setting
    1. Click on the Resources referring to this group section.
    2. Remove the required permission by clicking the Remove button next to the permission.
    View the status of jobs related to the groupClick on the Jobs section.
    View and manage the related resources and UUIDs for the group
    1. Click on the Related Resources and UUIDs section. 
    2. To manage a related resource or UUID, click the Manage button next to it.
    View any customer keys associated with the group and add more if required
    1. Click on the Customer Keys section. 
    2. To add a customer key, enter the required details and click the Add button.

    View and edit the group's metadata
    1. Click on the Metadata section. 
    2. Edit the metadata as required.
    3. Click the Save button.
    Edit the permissions for the groupClick on the Permissions section. 

    Permissions are set using the following fields:
    • Permission - Whether to allow or deny the user or group the ability to perform the action specified using the Capability drop down menu.
    • Type - Whether the permission applies to a group, or an individual user.
    • User/Group - The user or group to which the permission applies.
    • Capability - The action that the user or group is specifically allowed or denied the ability to perform.
    • Resource - The type of resource that the Capability pertains to, for example server, disk, or user.
  5. Once you have finished managing the group, close the Manage Group dialog box by clicking the Done button.
