Basic configurations:
Incoming and Outgoing mail server: mymail.brinkster.com
Description/UserName: Your full email address IE, john@smith.com
Incoming IMAP port: 143
-With SSL 993
Incoming POP port: 110
-With SSL 995
Outgoing port: 25 or 2525 if your ISP blocks 25
-With SSL 2525
Common errors are not being able to send (usually port 25 blocked by your local ISP), relay access denied (not adding your email to the "optional" field). Please follow the setup exactly, do not skip any steps, if it says optional on the phone, but the article says required, do it.
Please Read the entire article, do not skip any step.
Setting up your device:
Press to select "Settings" from your SpringBoard.
Two different version will be Side by side (They are mostly the same, just may look slightly different)
Press to select "Mail" from the "Settings" menu.

Select "Other".
Note: on later IOS you may have to select Add Mail Account after hitting other.
Enter the Mail Server information:
- Select "IMAP Or POP". Enter your name in the "Name" field.
- Your full email address (you@yourdomain.com) in the "Address" field.
- Your full Email address for the Description Field.
- Scroll down and input the settings for your Incoming Mail Server.
- Enter "mymail.brinkster.com" in the "Host Name" field.
- Enter your full email address in the "User Name" field and
Your password to the E-mail account in the "Password" field.
-Scroll down and input the settings for the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).
Enter "mymail.brinkster.com" in the "Host Name" field.
Enter your full email address in the "User Name" field (says optional, is required) and your password in the "Password" field.
Click "Finish". Press the "Save" button in the top right hand side of the screen.
NOTE: If you skip adding the email into the outgoing server username/password field, you WILL get a Relay denied error.
Mail will then check your mail settings.
It will verify your settings and add the email account.
Note:It may take a while then fail stating “account is setup but may not be able to send” or something similar. Press Save.
If you get any of these errors just hit yes, or OK. We just need to save the settings so we can edit them as Apple does not allow you to customize the settings when creating the account.
Now when you press Mail it will take you to your mail account.
NOTE: If you received any of the above errors, or mail will not send, we need to ensure it saved the correct settings.
Also if you fail to add the username and are getting relay denied error message, follow these steps to add the username and password.
For Changing port number if 25 is blocked, or resolving Relay denied error
Now once more press to select "Settings" from your SpringBoard.
Press to select "Mail" from the "Settings" menu.
Select the email account that you have just created.
Scroll down and press "Advanced". For later versions of IOS, it’s a bit different, Skip down to “For IOS7 Changing Outgoing server port”.
On this screen you would add the Username and password (your email and email password) to resolve the Relay denied error. For higher IOS version screenshots are found below as well.
Make sure "Use SSL" is turned "On" in both "Outgoing Settings" and "Incoming Settings"
Port for IMAP should be 993 and 995 if you are using POP.
Also it is suggested to change the Outgoing Server port to 2525.
Your set-up is now complete.
You may receive this error below if you use SSL:
Error:
"Secure Connection Failed
The certificate may not be valid."
The ssl certificate is only valid for mymail.brinkster.com.
If you are using something other than mymail.brinkster.com
for your server Host Names you will need to change this.
As an alternative, once the account is setup,
go into the account settings and disable the use of SSL. Port would then be 110 for pop3 or 143 imap
For IOS7 Changing Outgoing server port/Fixing Relay Denied error
After selecting the account you should see
Select Advanced for the Incoming settings. Ensure they look like this
SSL turned On
Authentication set to password
Port set to 995 for pop3, 993 for imap with SSL on.
If you turn SSL off, use 110 / 143 instead.
Back out of that window and select the “SMTP” for outgoing mail server (just above advanced)
Select the primary mail server “mymail.brinkster.com”
Change/ make sure the settings match
Hostname: mymail.brinkster.com
Username: (required) you@yourdomain.com
Password: Your email password
SSL: ON
Authentication: password
Port 2525
