Importing Email to Brinkster: Yahoo Mail

You can import email, contacts, and calendars* to a Brinkster (Zimbra) email account from Yahoo Mail using Zimbra Desktop. Zimbra Desktop can be downloaded here: http://www.zimbra.com/products/desktop.html

*Calendars are only available with Business Professional email accounts and are NOT supported on Premium email accounts.


To Import from a Yahoo Mail account you will need the following items for your Yahoo Mail account and your Brinkster email account:

1) Your full email address

2) Your email password

In order to export your

Configuring your Yahoo Mail account with Zimbra Desktop

1) Download and install Zimbra Desktop. Zimbra Desktop can be downloaded here: http://www.zimbra.com/products/desktop.html

2) Open Zimbra Desktop

3) Click Add New Account

4) Choose Yahoo under Account Type.

Fill in the required information:
Account Name: (Can be anything you choose, ex. Yahoo)
Your Full Name
Email Address: (This is your full yahoo email address)
Password: (Your Yahoo Mail password)
Check Synchronize all calendars
Check Synchronize all contacts and groups



5) Click Validate and Save

6) You will be required to validate your account with Yahoo! OAuth





     Click the link "Click To Verify"
     You may have to login to your Yahoo Mail account. You will then be asked to allow sharing of Yahoo info with Zimbra Desktop.
     Click Agree



Copy and paste the code provided on Yahoo.com into Zimbra Desktop.

Click 'Validate and Save'

Click Launch Desktop.

*You may have to completely exit from Zimbra Desktop and open it again for your calendar to completely sync.


Exporting your Mail, Contacts and Calendar from Zimbra Desktop


 In Zimbra Desktop, Click the Preferences tab, Choose Import / Export under your configured Yahoo account.


Then Click Export, and save the file to your desktop. Rename the file to something you will recognize.

Restoring the backup to your Brinkster account.


1) Log into your email account through webmail - https://webmail.brinkster.com/        (This can also be completed using Zimbra Desktop if your email account is already configured in Zimbra Desktop. 2) Go to Preferences.

3) Choose Import / Export.

4) Browse to the backup file which you downloaded.

5) Press the "Import" button.








All of your email from your yahoo account should now be available in your Brinkster hosted account.
